Both
my father and mother were Primary School teachers. I was born to them
on 26thSeptember
1967. I am the middle son to my parents, with an elder brother and a younger
sister. Our father (Late Madambath Ramakrishnamenon)
passed away in 1990, after he retired from service. During this period I
was doing my first year MSc.,. Our mother (Edapally Madhavikutty) was retired
from service and presently staying in our family house in India. My brother,
after graduating in Architectural Engineering and Post Graduated with specialization
in Urban Design, presently settled in Singapore with his wife and only daughter.
My sister, who was married to a business executive and settled in Kuwait
with her husband and two sons.
I was married on 26th October 1996, with Nisha, who is a Graduate in Economics and completed Teachers Training Course too. We have one daughter called Midhuna, born to us on 15th October 1997. Presently my wife and daughter stay in our family house back in India with my mother. About Studies and CareerI was not a studious student throughout my studies. Being the second son of a primary teacher couple, I was completed my first standard to seventh standard under them in M.A.M.U.P. School and there after in Govt. U.P. School at Thavanur (Thavanur is my native place). After my Upper Primary studies, I went to High School. This school was named after the famous Indian freedom fighter Mr.K.Kelappan; name of the the school is K.M.G.P.B.School (Kelappan Memorial Government Post Basic School). All these schools were at a walk-able distance from my home. Up to 10th class I learnt all subjects in Malayalam language, which is my mother tongue. I get out off 10th standard with a second class, that too with very poor marks in mathematics, in the year 1983. I got admission for Pre-Degree (equivalent to Plus Two) in M.E.S. College Ponnani (affiliated to the University of Calicut) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects. This was a two years course, unfortunately in the first attempt, I could not score pass marks in Physics and Maths for the final examination. In the second attempt I was able to pass the exams in the year 1986. With my father's (Late Madambath Ramakrishna Menon) continuous efforts and through his influences he managed to get me admitted to the degree of Bachelors of Science (BSc.,) in Geology in the same college. This was a three-years course. I could able to pass the final exam with a second class in the year 1989. Luckily I was able to get admission for the Post Graduate Degree course in Geology in V.O.C. College at Tuticorin. This college was an affiliated one with the Madurai Kamaraj University. I was able to complete the course without any problem and was awarded the Post Graduates Degree of Master of Science (MSc.,) in Geology during the academic year 1990-91 with first class. I was blessed with another event by getting a job as soon as the completion of my MSc., result was announced. My first job was with M/s.SGS India Ltd., I joined with this company on 10th December 1991 as a trainee executive, at their Bangalore Branch. SGS is an internationally reputed third party inspection company with branches all over the word. This company is having more than 20 branches in India with head office at Bombay (Mumbay). After training in different branches of SGS and the completion of probationary period, I was elevated to the post of Geologist and permanently posted at the Madras (Chennai) branch. I acquired experiences in inspections and quality control of different types of commodities, ores and minerals and to certain extent in marine surveys. The works with SGS opened me the frequent chances to travel widely in India to the areas of mining and industrial importance and to interact with different types of people and activities. In 1997, SGS gave me another opportunity to visit Kolalampur (Malaysia) for an in-house training program of Bulk Solids Sampling. In April 1998, I took long term leave on medical grounds from SGS, to visit my sister and her family in Kuwait. As I foresee some prosperous job opportunities in Kuwait, returned to India and re-entered (in July) with a work-permit visa. |
In my job hunt, I saw an advertisement
calling for Geologists by M/s.Inco-Lab, for Testing Materials, Soil, Surveying and Environment Research and forwarded my C.V. They called me for interview and posted me as their Geologist in September 1998, since then I am working with this organization. As I felt the job with Inco-Lab as a comfortable one, I submitted my resignation in SGS. With Inco-Lab I acquired experiences in the field of geotechnical investigations, soil classification and testing, engineering calculations for building foundation design etc. ![]() |
